The General Surgery Group, a member of the Johnson & Johnson Family of Companies, is currently recruiting for a Manager, New Business Development, Strategic Planning located in Somerville, NJ.

Dynamic role with dual responsibilities in both Strategic Planning and New Business Development. Assists in owning, facilitating and managing Strategic Planning process and deliverables across the Global Surgery Group. Develops tools and provides direction to Strategic Planning business partners across all Global Surgery businesses. Executes strategies to identify, assess, and pursue new business opportunities. Scans and scouts for potential new business opportunities to grow the Global Surgery business portfolio profitability, based on insight of unmet customer and market needs. Develops business cases for opportunities, including conducting research and analysis to vet and validate ideas and opportunities. Delivers oral & written presentations to management to communicate new business opportunities. Participates in the negotiation, structuring, closing and integration of deals. Supports or leads key areas of the Business Development process, including due diligence, negotiation, contract drafting, transaction approval, integration planning, and functional or business unit handoff.

May be responsible for the full Business Development process for certain transactions.

Key Responsibilities: Establish the Global Surgery Group Strategic plan by managing cross functional teams across the businesses to provide key strategies, data, financials and presentations for Executive leadership. Analyze and synthesize data to communicate long-term strategies for the business.Provide direction and guidance to Strategic Planning resources across the business through good communication. Analyze and determine trends and external environment factors that impact the Strategic Plan of the Global Surgery businesses. Executes on the following specific responsibilities: scouting, screening, assessment, business case development, forecasting and syndication of opportunities. Executes strategies to pursue new business opportunities. Prioritizes work load while following the right procedures. Scans and scouts for potential new business opportunities (for example licensing, mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures, distribution/development/supply agreements, IP, co-promoting, divestures, and auctions). Gains understanding of market and customer needs by reading published literature, patents and press releases, attending conferences and trade shows, networking, and seeking other sources of intelligence. Utilizes screening criteria, models, and tools to assess new business opportunities. Develops business cases for new business opportunities. Conducts marketplace analysis and assessment using financial and forecasting models. Partners with internal business partners including R&D and Marketing. Conducts research to analyze, vet and validate ideas and determine which opportunities to bring to market. Delivers oral & written presentations to J&J management to communicate new business opportunities. Develops and maintains relationships with target stakeholders. Participates in the due diligence, negotiation, structuring, and closing of deals. Participates on integration team to support integration new deals and assets into J&J.

REQUIREMENTS - QUALIFICATIONS: Manager, New Business Development, Strategic Planning

BS Degree (or equivalent degree) required, Master's degree preferred. A minimum 5 years prior business experience is required. Prior experience in medical device or healthcare industry preferred. Develop business and financial models to support business case, including experience delivering recommendations to senior management. Conduct quantitative & qualitative research and assessment to identify new business development opportunities. Identification & execution of strategic business opportunities such as NBD transactions, partnering, or similar. Experience in Business Development and Sales, Marketing, Finance, or R&D related role.
