Two well-established downtown businesses are evolving.

Reigning Cats & Dogs, premier pets? boutique, has found its way back to East Davis Street while its neighbor up the street, The Frenchman?s Corner, gourmet chocolate shop, is expanding.

Culpeper Renaissance recently hosted a ribbon-cutting ceremony at Cats & Dogs new location at 219 E. Davis. The store for animals and animal lovers moved from Main Street but was originally previously situated on Davis.

?Reigning Cats and Dogs is thrilled to be back on Davis Street,? said shop owner Monica Chernin, a local attorney.

She said the store?s selection of pet-themed gifts and items is unparalleled in Central Virginia featuring dog breed t-shirts, porcelain jewelry, pottery, games, pet treats and more. Saturdays, Reigning Cats & Dogs is hosting cat adoptions on behalf of the Louisa County Humane Society.

Meanwhile, in The Frenchman?s Corner at 129 E. Davis Street a makeover is underway as the chocolatier expands into a new space next door in between Green Roost and Culpeper Cheese Company effective next week. The new location will feature chocolates, teas, coffee, kitchen utensils and select toiletries.

As part of the makeover, Frenchman?s is adding a ?Business to Business Department? with offerings from Neuhaus Chocolates specifically designed for business gift giving. Frenchman?s is also adding Sweet Bliss Chocolates and Counter Culture Coffees.

Shop owner Marc Ast said they are working with Old House Vineyard owners Pat and Allyson Kearney on brand new wine and chocolate pairings.
