Behind the Scenes of Green Bay's Holiday Parade
Green Bay -
For 29 years now it's been a downtown Green Bay tradition.
"Five, four three, two, one, happy holidays," a group of kids should surrounding Green Bay Mayor Jim Schmitt.
Eighty-seven groups marched in this year's AT&T Green Bay Holiday Parade, along with nine bands and three big balloon displays.
It takes months of practice for some.
"It's fun," Green Bay West High School student Megan Bero said who's singing. "There's a lot of people, but it's a good time."
This year there's no snow.
But that didn't stop the folks from Ski Brule. They made snow and brought it.
"It's fun for us," Lisa Coates said. "It gives us a chance to seriously bring snow to Green Bay because usually for the holidays you guys don't have any. We have the snow all the time."
It's perfect to lead what is this year's biggest hit.
The new addition, appropriate really, to have Mrs. Clause alongside real reindeer.
"So yes, we came down," Mrs. Clause told us before the parade started. "We saw the fog on the way down and were wondering if we shouldn't have brought Rudolph, but he's kind of busy this time of year."
If reindeer aren't your type, though, don't worry the Shawano County Drill Team will show off their horses.
"We do a lot of brushing them because it's so cold," Shannon Palmer said. "We can't wash them very much, but we get them as clean as we can and glitter them up and decorate them to ride."
It's decades of traditions and memories that fill downtown Green Bay.
